DRAFT RESOLUTION for the City of Albuquerque Human Rights Commission

A Resolution Preventing Cooperation of City Resources for Operation Legend:
Whereas, the City of Albuquerque Human Rights Commission is committed to serving our city to create a more equitable community; and
Whereas, The City of Albuquerque Human Rights Commission is committed to creating a peaceful community for all to thrive; and
Whereas, the City of Albuquerque Human Rights Commission is dedicated to eliminating violence in all its forms including structural violence, physical violence, and physical violence; and
Whereas, the City of Albuquerque Human Rights Commission recognizes the history of racial violence in New Mexico and the systemic outcomes it has created; and
Whereas, the City of Albuquerque Human Rights Commission condemns violent action, violent rhetoric, and political violence with intentions of creating civil unrest; and
Whereas, the killing of unarmed black men and women has sparked a global response through the Black Lives Matter Movement through peaceful protests and demonstrations, invoking civil liberties invested in our Country’s Constitution; and
Whereas, peaceful protests have been met with violence and are targeted by hyper-militarized federal and local agents nationally; and
Whereas, the City of Albuquerque Human Rights Commission condemns toxic police practice evoking that invokes civil unrest; and
Whereas, the City of Albuquerque Human Rights Commission condemns the arrival of federal agents dispatched by the President of the United States and rebukes any cooperation with such entities
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Albuquerque Human Rights Commission condemns the arrival of federal agents in Albuquerque that will create civil unrest and a hyper-militarized city.
